SPA 009: What You Don’t Know About Sticking to your Goals

“I fear no the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” – Bruce Lee

When trying to accomplish your goals, remember the power of taking baby steps.

Let me give you example of my own experience. I’m doing a marathon at the end of this year, and my goal is to hit under 4 hours. It’s actually not an achievable goal, because I haven’t been running long distances ever since my son was born.

Nevertheless, I set my goals accordingly and made a plan. I told myself to start with running 5 km first, then 6km the next week, then 7, 8, and now I’m running 9km and keeping the same average pace.

You see, it’s not about being relaxed about your goals, but it’s about starting small and pushing yourself, nudging a bit more day by day even when you don’t feel like to do it

Another example is, you can do 5 pushups today, that’s not a lot, but so what, if you keep at it everyday, next month you can hit 20 good pushups in one shot and 100 pushups in 6 months time, if that’s your goal, you’ve made improvement, you’ve accomplished your goal!

In summary:

Ask yourself one important question and make sure you answer it.
What are you doing everyday to accomplish your goal?
