“The vision of a champion is someone who is bent over, drenched in sweat, at the point of exhaustion when no one else is watching” – Jim Afremow
First of all, what do champions have in common? First they have a dream, second, they have a plan and third, a system to reach it. It’s just that simple.
The problem with many athletes is we allow other people’s dreams, plans and systems to come in between the goals and ourselves. This make things more complicated than what it is because when each of us are unique and we allow other people’s thoughts to influence ours, the feelings in our body conflict with one another.
This is natural, you can’t avoid taking in what others have to say, you have to listen. But you need to be discerning and mindful of yourself to begin with.
And once these external thoughts come into your system and these thoughts contradict, you are able to separate them and see the distinction to make decisions.
This is how you become self-sufficient and crystal clear of what you need to do to get to where you want to go. Those who aren’t able to do this either see a pile of mess in their minds, or they do not see anything at all. It’s all evident in their actions and results, they are all over the place, some of them break down, some of them work really hard but they get worn out very quickly.
I know who you are, you are a hard worker, you are willing to take the hardship, pain and time to improve, you commit to your task at hand with dedication and enthusiasm, but you don’t know how to get past that uncertainty to give yourself the permission to set free to do as you please.
Then what happens? You lost track of success, you worked really hard but to see yourself at a dead end with too many forks on the road, unsure of which way to go. You need a system, you need to see what’s in a champion’s mind. I’m not sharing these secrets to guarantee you a gold medal in the Olympics.
As we’ve already understood, it’s not the color of the medal, it’s about knowing. It’s about knowing there’s continuity even after arriving at a destination. Goals are like pitstops in your journey. You never wanted your journey to end.
All you ever want is to know there is more to this road you have chosen towards a purposeful pitstop and to know which road to choose when multiple forks are laid across your pathway.
Be glad there is a proven way towards this as revealed by thousands of champions all over the world in any sport.
