Hi, I’m Marilyn Wo and this is StarPlayer Academy episode 120.
I always believe that you should engage your sport with passion, because your sport is part of your life and your life should be lived to the fullest.
In order to do that, you need to be involved in your sport as a contributor to a cause.
In other words, you should be doing everything to pursue your dreams by giving and serving towards a cause be it big or small.
As you condition and train towards mastering the skill to the best of your abilities, progress not to look good, but to find your own way to stay focussed on the present moment.
You may end up in the zone or be in the flow, call it what you want, that’s the state you want to be in when you set a “focus and forget” mindset.
It’s not easy, who doesn’t wonder what will happen and who doesn’t want the outcome to be in one’s favour?
But you know to only focus on the controllable and at the end of the day you can never ever control what your outcome will be.
The problem with most humans is we have feelings tied to predicting what will happen next.
And we all know that we don’t know what exactly will happen next.
Feeling anxious about the unknown is normal, but getting affected by your emotions as you go into the next play may screw up your performance, that is why you must always always aim to zero in on moment to moment situation and be present as much as possible.
Ask yourself, have you ever made the best decision and be able to overcome your greatest challenge in your game when you are feeling stressed out or about to break down? Most likely not.
If you are bent on going out there to do your best, there’s only one way about it, which is to be engaged in the moment.
One thought per action, one thing at a time.
