Hi, I’m Marilyn Wo and this is StarPlayer Academy episode 121.
It’s not about how hard you hit.
It’s about how hard you can get hit and get up and move forward.
If you want to compete, be ready to fail and fail forward.
So if you are not looking forward to turn up for training, if you are feeling too sick to push yourself harder than before, I can tell you that’s normal, but the next step you take is a choice that only you can make for yourself.
You can choose to not show up, feel comfortable in bed, get more rest and lose another day, or you can choose to defy your laziness and get on to find your way to the other side of wall, knock it down, fall flat on the floor, bear with the pain and get up again to eventually move the wall be it by inches or by metres.
Usually it’s not the wall that’s the problem. It isn’t the game you are playing that make it harder for you. The problem is your decision. If you decide to choose an easier path for yourself right now, nobody can stop you.
You can choose to walk away from the wall right now, how sure are you that you will not face another wall as you walk on?
Point is wherever you go, there will always be a wall you will have to face, that’s reality, that’s how what sports is and that’s how life is. It is how you define them and the decisions you make that bring meaning to what you do with these walls.
These walls are obstacles, but you can be imaginative, spin them around, bring them lower or do just about anything with them to enjoy and appreciate your environment.
That’s how you take them as challenges rather than pain or punishment, so that you respond to get past them rather than react to their presence or avoid them only to find another one blocking your path on your next step.
You’ll realise that once you are able to get past one wall, you are able to get past any wall of the same type and the same goes on for the other walls.
Treat the obstacle as a real challenge and fail forward. It’s not about failing, it’s about whether you are moving.
