Control Your Thoughts to Stay Focussed in the Now Before You Control the Game that You See Outside of You
So you can’t help but feel a little angsty, frustrated with yourself, angry with the mistakes you’ve done because those are mistakes that shouldn’t have been made.
All you want to do at this point is to either find a corner to sit and sulk or hit the cold shower to hopefully wash your mistakes away, quickly looking forward to the next game to start over a clean slate.
You wish there is someone who can give you that answer to how to stop feeling this way, or to just allow you to perform without making silly mistakes.
There’s no model answer, there’s nobody to tell you how to feel that’s right or wrong.
Not even your teammate, not even your super coach.
They are there to be your guide, but they cannot stop you from worrying nor stop you from revisiting your past failures.
Being in the present moment depends only on you and you alone.
And that depends on what runs through your mind.
Every little sense of control you have over yourself starts from your mind.
Stop doing what you are doing right now, take a seat, have a drink, get comfortable and be silent for a minute.
Then, look at yourself from a third person point of view. Ask yourself, “am I talking too much?”, “am I directing people around me too much without improving myself first?”, “did my actions matter?”.
Start with this first. Everything you do that will lead to future events starts from your mind.
What you think will dictate how you feel and how you feel will dictate how you act. Control your thoughts to stay focussed in the now first before you control the game that you see outside of you.
